Days of “Open doors” were organized in the Institute of biology and immunology of reproduction. This event was supported by the ReProForce project of 7^th framework programme of European Commission.

The days of “Open doors” took place in the Institute of biology and immunology of reproduction at 27^th and 28^th October 2010.

The purpose of the event was:

●      presentation of the ReProForce project and all comprised activities and events for its fulfillment before the scientific society

●      demonstration of the purchased by the project technical equipment and the opportunities for its exploitation by other scientific and small industry institutions

●      dissemination and publicity of the scientific results and achievements obtained in the Institute among the scientists and broad public

The days of “Open doors” was attended by Acad. Nikola Sabotinov - the president of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Prof. K. Konstantinov - the secretary of BAS and representatives from the Ministry of education and sciences, scientific institutes, universities, medical centers, companies, schools and young scientists, students, journalists and interested citizens.

A film summarizing the latest scientific achievements of all working groups from the Institute was shown to the 120 attendants of the “Open doors” event. After a visit to the laboratories equipped with apparatus purchased by the funds of the ReProForce project, a specialized exhibition of posters was offered to the visitors. Scientific results from the groups of the Institute as well as documented materials from the already performed scientific events, activities and mobility visits of junior scientists participating in the ReProForce project were shown on the posters.

An official presentation of the ReProForce project was made by Assoc. Prof. Margarita Mollova who is the coordinator of the project. All attendants were introduced to the scientific and applied achievements of the Institute of biology and immunology of reproduction for the last five years.

As a result from the “Open doors” event, the specific purposes of the ReProForce project, namely strengthening of the investigative and technical capacity of the Institute, increase of its visibility in the country and its activity related with bidirectional mobility of scientists, organization of common seminars, creation of scientific network with the project partners, local activities, dissemination of results of the project and the investigation areas of the Institute were broadly popularized.

New contacts with scientists from other institutes and representatives of business companies were established. As a result, based on the new equipment purchased by the financial support of the ReProForce project, opportunities for new partnerships and future collaborative work were outlined.
