    REINFORCEMENT OF THE RESEARCH CAPACITY OF THE BULGARIAN INSTITUTE “BIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY OF REPRODUCTION”

        • 2. Strengthening the technological capacity of IBIR-BAS

          Objectives

          The main objective of this work package is to upgrade the technical resources of IBIR-BAS. It needs a considerable investment for the equipment with contemporary research apparatus to improve the scientific work and reach scientific quality of leading European and International Centres. The maintenance of laboratories with modern scientific equipment will attract motivated scientists working in the field of biology and immunology of reproduction. An accurate list consisting of equipment completing the IBIR-BAS’s current excellence has been prepared. An additional improvement of IBIR-BAS’s research capacity will be achieved by a membership in some important online scientific databases providing access to research quotations and publications.

           

          Work description

          Task 2.1. Up-grade of existing laboratories:

          2.2.1. Laboratory for proteome analysis.

          2.2.2. Laboratory for cell culture, physical and chemical analyses.

          2.2.3. Laboratory for in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer.

          2.2.4. Laboratory for confocal and light microscopy.

          Task 2.2. Organization of the up-graded laboratories.

          Task 2.3 Membership into on-line scientific databases.

          Equipment acquired under Task 2.1. Upgrading the existing laboratories:
          2.2.1. Laboratory for proteome analysis:

          1. Thermostats and Ultrasonic homogenizer for tissues and cells.

          2. System for vertical polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) for 2D gels produced by Differential in-Gel Electrophoresis (DIGE), providing multiplex fluorescent die detection and software for processing and analysis of the scanned gels.
                3.  Laboratory low temperature freezer at -80оС
          2.2.2. Laboratory for cell culture, physical and chemical analyses:
                4. Laminar flow cabinet with build-in stereomicroscopes
                5. СО2 cell culture incubators
                6. Inverted microscope
                7. Laboratory ultra-low temperature freezer at -120оС
                8. Centrifuge
               9. Universal plate spectrophotometer. System with detection filters providing detection of fluorescence, luminescence and light absorption.
          2.2.3. Laboratory for in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer:
