          Jun 2, 2010

A workshop entitled "Mitochondria and Reproduction" which was a joint event of FP7 Capacity ReProForce project and COST Action FA0602 was held at the Institute of Biology and Immunology of Reproduction, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria on 2-3 June 2010. It was attended by 50 participants from Bulgaria and Europe.

During these two days 10 plenary lectures and 5 posters were presentated and discussed. Additionally, a round table dealing with the positive impact and practical application of biologically active substances in the reproductive health care was organized. It provoked a high interest among the participants and led to constructive discussions. The organised workshop was very helpful for all participants and offered opportunities for exchanging knowledge and new ideas for future work in the fundamental and clinical scientific areas about the role of mitochondria in cellular development and maturation during reproduction. During this event new scientific partnerships, contacts and collaborative networks were established.

The participants welcomed the enthusiasm of the workshop organizers, as well as the hospitality of the Institute of Biology and Immunology of Reproduction. The foreign guests enjoyed the social program and the natural beauty of Sofia.
